Hey the first time i did the diy co2, it was very successful. it lasted bout two weeks but the second time i did it no co2 came out. i had to shake the bottle for it to produce the co2 (i shakevery frequently it cause no co2 is being produced). used same bottle and same cap.

    Hi

What's your proportion of sugar, water and yeast?
Any moisture get to your yeast?

Added yeast to the sugar water mixture while still warm?

    Any leaks from the joints?

If your bottle and its parts are not cleaned properly, bacteria can come in and feed on your yeast. After the bacteria had done their job and there is no yeast left to break down the sugar, you have no CO2 produced.

Agitation (shaking) is only temporary. Wash/sterilise the bottle well (soak in diluted bleach for 10 minutes, then rinse well with anti-chlorine) before reusing your bottle, cap, airline etc. Then remix your yeast-sugar solution.
    Warm regards,

5 teaspoon is really alot... think 4 and 1/2 spoon of them would have been killed off by the alcohol produced or quickly consumed all the sugar you had in ur bottle... probably that's why there is no more co2 produced after a couple of days...

Did you wait for at least a day for the yeast to start fermenting the sugars and produce CO2 enuff to pressure up to your tank?

    Dear Ahkarboy,
You didn't mentioned any thing about the size of your container. 1.5 ltr or 2 Ltr or 4 Ltr if you are using 2 cups. Are you using the standard baking cup or the usual one we drink with? 5 teaspoon of yeast will burn up your solution real quick. I'm only using half a teaspoon to a cup of sugar in a 2 litre bottle, usually last me between 2-3 weeks.( I use brown sugar ). From my personal experience, no Co2 means usually a leakage along your pipeline and also if the water is hot, the yeast will not work. You have to cool it first. The carbonate part is not really that critical but the yeast and sugar is. Btw are you using the spoon use for measurement or your standard drinking spoon. Point to note: more yeast means solution burns faster, less vice versa.
PS: I silicon all my joints and I use a check valve from the bottle to the DIY Co2 diffuser which is basically a container. Forget about using a diffuser or flipper as there is always a mucus built up that is extremely difficult to clean. I hope the info helps, may the Force be with you.

lol....michael is the "Lao Jiao" for diy...same as me, i encounter damn lot of setbacks initially, but as most pple ended up with, i invested in a co2 cylinder aft my green water outbreak. cos it's really hard to control the co2 level in DIY setup....

    Hi Taz,
Still learning lah... Dear ahkar, I'm not sure where you're getting your info from but I got mine from the 'KRIB' site. Very easy and simple information and instructions. DIY requires alot of discipline, there is no such thing as a easy way out.
