    can anyone here share with me the formula for calculating the amount of water in the tank? in litres or gallons please.

    saw this topic some time ago but couldn't find it now. any kind soul that can link me to the thread is very much appreciated. thank you.

    We'll be releasing a calculator soon which calculates more then just water volume. But to get you by...

    Litres = (Length (cm) x width (cm) x height (cm)) divide by 1000.

    US Gallons = litres divide by 3.785.

    (for a rough estimate of US Gallons, divide litres by 4).
    Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.

    In the meantime, you can refer to the PFK (Practical Fish Keeping) website... Just look out for whether their gallon is in Imperial gallon...

    so if my tank is 60x30x35cm, the approximate amount of water should be 63l or 16g.

    but you probably wun feel ur tank to the brim... so the amount would prob be lesser...

    Oh yes... And minus the volume of your substrate, deco, fish and plants etc... Usually they recommend about 75-80% of the full tank volume...

    yes yes fully agree. now i know how to calculate already. when i select certain plants in future, i would know if my current light wattage is suitable or not. thanks for all of your help.
