i got a bottle of Lushgro Micro in powder form. it's indicated as EDTA-Fe on the bottle. is there a calculator for me to use for the dosing amount? i am thinking to dissolve it in water first then dose the solution.

say, my tank is 150 liter. i want to prepare a solution that every 1ml sollution will generate 0.1ppm iron in my tank. and i want total 400ml solution. so how many powder i should use in mg? i only have a teaspoon that i can measure 5mg each time.

    thanks a lot!

You need to know how many mg of Fe is in each g of the powder. Do you have that information? Sometimes the ingredients will list in terms of %. And it also matters if it is % of Fe or % of an Fe compound.

Post what the ingredients list and quantity and someone can help you figure it out.

So you want 1ml of your solution to raise 0.1ppm (i.e. 0.1 mg/l) in 150 litres of water? Well then you need to make sure the are 15mg of Fe per 1ml of solution.

In 400ml of the solution, you need 15x400mg of Fe. So if you know how many mg Fe there is in the powder, you can work out how much powder to mix to 400ml of water.

This will give you an approximation.

By the way, depending on the density of the powder and and how well packed the powder is, each spoonful is only an approximation of the weight (mg). A level spoon will only give fairly accurately, the volume of powder... i.e. 5ml. If you can get a small scale. My wife got a digital one from SingPost as part of some business dealings. Not sure if they sell it.

And I believe the spoon should be giving approx 5g, not 5mg. It holds 5ml of water which works out to 5g.

So for every g of the LushGro powder, you will get 130mg of Fe.

You need 400x15 mg of Fe to mix with 400ml of water to get the solution you want.

    400x15 mg
    = 6000mg

To get 6000mg of Fe from the LushGro powder, you need 6000/130 = 46.15g

So dissolve about 46g of the lushgro powder in 400ml of water to get the solution you wanted.

    Can someone confirm my calculations?

looks correct to me. impressive. thanks a lot.

my wife got a few digital scales in her lab. there is an advanced set among them, which is precise to .001 mg. will ask her to weight.
