I was quoted between S$800+ to S$900+ on the 2 different models that aquatechnic has. However, I had the impression that these are assembled in China. Can anyone verify?

    Hi nim75sg,

Thanks for the link. Looks like Teco has a new site and the information is finally up.

Do you have any idea what the marine community thinks about this new chiller? Or is it too new and there hasn't been much user feedback?

    Cheers,

Only recently does this model is available in the market and there are doubt about the quality and reliability as these models are speculated that they're made in China.

Personally being an Italian design, it won't be far off and without any feedback from marine reefers doesn't interpret as a negative as it is only available now.

    My humble opinion-

I think Teco has done a good job to keep the price down to under the 1K mark for it's new chiller. I believe they realise that customer have been given more options to choose from from all the available chiller makers out there. Keeping the cost down and passing the savings to the customer seems the best way to attract customer, whether regular or new. It's a good choice that they made but it's nothing new. Teco has a good reputation for building a very good quality chiller on the market. It's quality design and extensive research has created a chiller that is very reliable. You could even get a 2nd hand ones and it would still be reliable (of course, you may need to have the previous owner to service it before he sells it to you as it may have been used for other application eg marine to freshwater setup).

Now having said that, I believe Teco would not compromise on quality with it's product. If the speculation are true that the new chiller are cheaper because they are made in China, I think that they would not compromise on the quality check for their chiller. The new design must have come from their own research and development area and thus should have incorporate most of their own technology. It could be that the assembly of the chiller has been moved to China as it is cheaper to produce it there. The parts obtained would cost less for them to make and shipped within China instead of shipping them to their own factory in Italy ( I think). That could be why the chiller price have been brought down.

On a personal note, I am eyeing the TR10 model for my new setup. But Daeil also has good feedback from our local user here. So I am currently torn between these 2 brand.

At first I thought Daeil will be very quiet. Indeed it is not that quiet. You can still hear the motor + fan's sound.

I called the salesperson representing the agency. I told him that I'll be interest in one unit of TR20. He replied that there is no stock currently. Then, I told him, please provide me with expected arrival date of the new chiller. However, it has been 10 days, and there isn't any response from him. I guess my business is too small.

Any kind soul can recommend a place to buy this chiller, TR20 without much wait.

I Must get chiller already. Today ST newspaper came out - 2005 temperature hit record high. It is expected next year it will be another record breaking year. "sigh". My blyxa is dying......

Look at the design and notice the air was going in from the bottom... think a bit weak than the old design .. plus if the floor got dust than all will suck into the filter pad and need to clean often i guess...

Agreed that this new design draws air from the bottom and the gap height is actually the height of the four legs.

It draws lesser air due to the narrow gap as compared to the older version.

Maybe, by raising the height of the chiller from the floor, there will be lesser dust being sucked from the bottom?

I've collected my chiller. I asked Benjamin about the TR by China. He told that a customer bought one & returned it because it was leaking. I am not sure if he is refering to TR20. Btw, Benjamin told me he has to replace that unit with an Italian made Teco chiller.
