    a jungle stream

Crypt. striolata - another location for Crypt. striolata. ( aquatic plant)

The lower part of leaf of Crypt. striolata. According to some reference books, some species of the plants in low light jungle can develop anthocyanin (which caused the lower side of the leaf red/ maroon colouration) on the lower part of the leaf, which reflects light energy back through the leaf's photosynthetic tissue. This may help the plant to capture the sun light more efficiently in the dense jungle.

    Barclaya motleyi (submerged form)

Crypt longicauda found in another location:

Lantern bug. (Pyrops intricata) - This species live on the sap of plants.

Tephritid fly (Themara sp.) - This is a male. Female does not have the eye-stalks. Males are always fight with each others for territory (the tree log). If the female is passing by the male territory, the male will court with her.

Malay red harlequin - (Paralaxita sp.) This is one of the prettiest butterflies in Borneo.

Branded imperial - (Eooxylides tharis) - This species got 3 hindwing tails.

    Betta brownorum

The clear water inside the container is from the swamp. So far, this is the only locality which I found Betta brownorum lives in clear water swamp.

why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.
