if my windelov ferns, the tips turning brown,
what could be the problem causing it?

If the tips are turning brown (or black) the plant is dying or doing badly most likely due to water condition or simply transplanting stresses. But don't throw it away just yet. It can most likely be nursed back. Make sure there is no strong current battling it. This plant hates it. Apart from this, once the water condition stabilises it will start to bouce back slowly.
