hi all, this my first attempt at ferns & crypts tank. considered low tech coz only a powerhead to provide water circulation.

    Floras:
    Microsorum pteropus
    Microsorum pteropus "narrow"
    Anubias barteri
    Echinodorus tenellus
Not very sure abt the 2 crypts: looks like Crypt. X Willisii and Crypt. Beckettii to me. (i'm bad at IDing plants XD)

    Faunas:
    Black skirt tetras (10)
Spotted sailfin sucker catfish (1) "aka eat-shit-fish"

well..feel free to provide critic/comment/suggest/recommend s to this tank ^^ so i can improve it

You need a hardscape like driftwood, otherwise everything will just be monotonous green. Your crypts hopefully will provide more colour after they've converted to submersed form.

Keep the surface turbulence down. Have some but not that much or else you will drive off the CO2 produced by bacteria and biological processes. Consider even a small filter as a backup or else you run higher risk of greenwater.

i like the left side with the narrow ferns..
the middle part still looks too bare... adding a nice branchy wood will be nice!

Seen this tank in the real form, gives a nice feel when i saw it especially when the black shirt tetras school past. One thing though, the right back corner plant seems not fitting into the whole scape. Perharps can replace by another bush of narrow java fern facing the oppsite side ones to create a hidden path in the center empty background.

    Cheers.

Thank you all for the suggestions!! Will upload pics after implementing changes

johannes: Thanks johannes ^^ Tenellus is fast growing and non-fussy, so..hope it'll thrive soon!

    |squee|: During planning, i cant seems to think of anything to put in the center area of the tank. I'm actually still trying to figure out if there is any suitable Background and middle ground plants with a different color tone to fill the center. Totally agreed that the color of the plants are similar. A DW is good..but i dunnoe what to tie to it...

PeterGwee: The little powerhead was indeed too high. Shifted it below liao. The flow was reduced to a more gentle flow. I'm going to put a hang-on filter soon..(as soon as i saved enough..). Greenwater doesnt seems to occur in this tank somehow..But gonna have a backup plan as suggested ^^ Thanks for pointing that.

avant: A nice piece of wood is like treasure these days.. I maybe i would add a rock in the middle temporary, but if it fits..then will leave it as it is. (=

K11: Yo k11! how's the glosso doing? everything fine? need any help contact me ya? The right back corner stem plant is actually not really part of the scape... Just my little idea of preventing algae growth. was hoping it'll take in any excess nutrients. I've 2 bushes of narrow java fern in my dad's aro tank. will try to harvest abit from there. While he's off at work of course! I like ur idea of a hidden path. that will actually save me the brain juice to think of something for the center lobang

    Best Rgds

Hi everyone, here is an update of my tank. pardon the poor picture quality. took with with handphone cam.
Added changes to the right side especially. For the foreground..it's still abit blank, but i'm thinking of having a moss foreground but dont know how to go about doing that. Currently got xmas moss and taiwan moss in a holding tank.
