If I'm not wrong, MDF and water are not a good combination. Once water has seep into the MDF board, the wooden chip in that board will expand and are considered damaged. It won't go back to it's original form.
Hi, I understand a tank must be placed on 1/2" styrofoam to even out any uneveness in the cabinet top so as not to stress the tank. Has anybody had the experience of putting a 4 x2 x2 tank on a teak or rosewood cabinet without using the styrofoam? I also understand that China-made cabinets are made of MDF or chipboard. Has anybody experienced damage to such cabinets caused by water? Tks.

If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.

Use the styrofoam and DO NOT EVER place tanks on MDF or chipboard. Well..unless you want to clean up ALOT of water and get whatever in your cabinet wet to the core.
