There can be a million reasons to why your moss is not growing. Fill up the tank help form.

It might be due to the bright lights. It also might be due to your temperature.

I'd get lower lighting(contributes to less temperature problems too) and reduce the temp furthur to 25 degrees C if possible. Look into your liquid fert regime. ARe you adding everything plants need? (potassium nitrogen phosphate calcium magnesium and assorted trace elements)

29degree maybe too high for mosses, if u try search past threads, mosses grow well in cooler water...try bringing the temp down to around 27 or wat using DIY fans......

how long did you on ur light? 72watt is ok. but it is better to hav cooler fan. provide them adequate fertilizer. trim off the brown and pale part to let them grow again. if u think it is due to bright light, put in some floating plant to block off some light. good luck!

well i'm using 72W lights in a 2ft tank and my taiwan moss is growing ok. I maintained my tank temp ard 27~28 during lights on, and 26~27 when lights are off. My lights are on 8 hours.

I think just trim them and let it grow again.

Do you inject CO2 into the tank?

Moss only use CO2 as a source of carbon...not even bicarbonate. If you do EI, you are only left with CO2 or perharps some moss eating critter?

Think back for any changes you might have made to that tank.

Only thing I can think of is, your moss has overgrown itself so much that the inner layers are rotting away due to lack of light and affecting the exterior growth.

Wow, just how thick is your moss now so the inner layer can be rotten coz inadequate light?

Well I kinda had the same problem months ago, but now moss growing OK.
I had them turns brown after :
    1. I tried digging the substrate (tried to put some blocks of hemianthus| failed ), I guess too much debris covered the moss.
    2. Then I had a sick fish so tried added fish medicine tetra medica (the whole tank water turned brown, it wiped out all riccia too ).
    3. And back then I still didn't attach any fan, temp around 30.

So I don't know which one caused my moss turned brown. But I didn't do any trimming, now they back to normal and grows okay, temp now 28C max.
It takes about 3 months to get that brownish moss back to normal.
Maybe you should try trim your moss like the other guys said, to fasten moss' grow, because with you have right now, the moss should grow okay.
Moss is not a very demanding plant IMO...

Hmm... Part of my Java moss turned brown... Hmm... Never seen it happen before. Tank water temp is 21-28C and the moss had been growing well... Recently I added some Seachem Excel to the tank, could that be the reason? Hmm...
