    Experts, please correct me if I am wrong.

    It depends on the type of apisto you are going for and whether its caught from wild or tank breed. Wild ones are very sensitive to the water condition other than the usual Ph level of 7 and below.

    Fish :
    Typical ones including cacatoides ( caca, cockatoo ) and agassizii easily available in Biotope and C328.

    Fishtank:
    Use substrate like ADA that can lower your Ph easily and a air pump will do as a start. Do think about investing on a better filter the chance of a longer lifespan of your fish.

    Plants :
    Keep it simple like Java Fern or moss if the focus is on the fish.

    Water :
    My usual routine 10-15 % change of water twice a week and add in antichlorine and bacterlife ( breakdown nitrite and ammonia ).
    Remember to condition the water for a week or so.

    Breeding them is another story.
