I am considerering a Eheim 2028 filter for my intended 4 ft tank. 1 LFS in Clementi quoted $310. Though like the German quality, but the price is abit beyond my budget. Any recommendation for a cheaper filter that comes close to the Eheim quality? Tks

IME, I would recommend Atman CF series!
I have 2 Atman AT series running for close to 2 yrs!
    Still up and running!
Now the CF series even has priming aid!

If i not wrong, Atman AT series can use Ehiem parts for replacement!
Not sure about their CF series as mine is still rather new.

However, do take note that the flowrate of Atman indeed slow down with time! But given the fact that Atman is more than 1/3 cheaper than Eheim, I think it is a rather good trade-off!

If your buget allows, me would still recommend Eheim. Cos my trusty Eheim more than 2 years liao still as good as new. If budget is your main concern, can trying asking any bro here letting go their Eheims!

Good luck with your upcoming tank!

Tks, will check out the Atman series. 1 Q. Is it necessary to have 2 filters instead of 1 for a 4 ft tank? If 2 is adviseable, do I buy 2 filters that have the capacity to filter 3 times the tank volume individually, or to share the workload, i.e each is capable of filtering 1.5 times the volume? Cheers.

For planted tank, perhaps you should consider Eheim 2215 or 2217. If not, then go for 2026 2nd-hand about 100+.

    Hi there, taz_boy!
I believe he was referring to the Atman AT series!
I personally also find them rather obsolete liao!
But IMO, it still provide the basic function of filtration and more importantly is reliable and cheap!

Moreover, Atman did came out with a newer CF series which i personally find them rather good!

The new CF series even has UV sterilization for the higher-end models!
But then again, UV sterilization not good for planted tanks!

Bro just go for the ehiem 2215. Around 100+. I'm using it and it has given me no problem. Only thing is u should buy the 'taps' for ease of maintenance.

I do agree getting a Ehiem canister filter unless u are really tight in budget. I also look at the power consumption and usually Ehiem uses less power to poweer their filter compared to other brands. Need to do your maths as filter, like your fridge, keeps on going and going and never thought of turning it off once u started it.
