    Hello..

May i know... where can i get info on, how to, properly tie mosses onto driftwoods or rocks? PLease do advice me on that. .
Because, after tieing them, i noticed my 4months' old tank, the mosses inside seem to be in disarray.

I heard that, it must be laid in many layers, just like a painting?
    Is that true?

    Please do advice..

    Thanks a lot,
    Alvin

I don't know about others but when I tied my moss to DW, I tried to get the fronds in the same direction as much as possible, overlapping layers but it should not be too thick.

I tie moss thinly too, about at most 3 layers.

Tying should be easy, just wrap the cotton thread/fishing line around the plant until it holds.

    Different mosses grow somewhat differently...

I tie my Taiwan moss strand by strand, trying to be along the same direction. Now it looks pretty neat... But I realised that there is a need to tie near the edge as well... Else, the corners and edges look bare

I feel Java moss will grow quite haphazardly... They are best grown in a clump... So, the laying of the Java strands will be quite different... Think can cross the strands for a thick effect...

I am now trying a willow moss carpet for my office tank... Seems like almost impossible... Anyone tried millow moss as a carpet?

Java moss can actually root themselves on the DW. Just spray water on the DW with Java moss on it daily to keep it damp. After few weeks it will root on the DW. Teo's Aquatic Farm do so. Not sure other moss can do this anot.

Yes. I have seen that too in Teo's Aquatic Farm. However, unless u got automatic sprinkler, where got time to keep doing tat? I have personally tried this method but give up in the end after 3 days.

I find it doesn't really matter how I attach the moss... Constant trimming helps keep any moss in check. I just take a thin clump of moss and tie it down to whatever surface I want it to cover and just trim every few weeks. It helps get the mosses bushy... Even Java moss.

Maybe with java moss it doesn't makes a big difference but I think with the others where the fronds are more distinctive, it pays to have more attention to it when tying... just my opinion

If they grow downwards, then it would be good.... Seems they are becoming erect... Growing towards the light source... Well, now the mesh is just placed on the sides of the tank and I will setup the scape once the wood sinks... Then can see if the willow moss can make it as a carpet...

All moss will grown very nice provide that they have all the required and balance nutrients/condition (light, CO2, nitrate, potassium....) Java moss will still grown in low light condition or inferior condition but in a disorderly manner.

Are you injecting CO2 and liquid fertilizer regularly?
