For background, can consider Corkscrew Vallesneria. They won't grow too tall for a 2ft tank. Can also add some non-green plants like A.reineckii, Proserpinaca palustris or Ludwigia brevipes etc for some variety.

Personally, I would put the Nuphur japonica at the back as it can grow tall.

    Keep us posted.

Hey Michael, (I moved your thread to the Aquascaping forum because I feel it belongs there more)

Take out that big plant in the centre, I hate it. Somehow everyone starts off this way and I'm really sick of it. It's a easy focal point to make, but it'll grow too big for your 2ft and it'll just be like a obscene plant rigt smack in the middle of your tank. It's just in my opinion though.

Your rock is very solid-looking, perhaps you might want to find more of the same rock type in different sizes but similar shapes. I like what you've done with the Blyxia japonica too. My suggestion will be to get more of the stemmed plant you have right now and increase the mass on the right, then plant a few stalks on the left. This will balance out your scape provide a "not-so-symmetric-yet-symmetric" feel you often find in art. Find more stemmed plants of different species in green, plant them en masse.

Get a red plant like Ludwigia arcuata to be your focal point, either as an enhancer (behind the big rock) or a balancer (on the left side of the tank to balance out the weight of the rock on the right) or as an entire focal point on its own. Glosso in that tank will be a nice choice. Just experiment for a while. I'm just suggesting.

    hi KF,

thanks for ur suggestion. Actually i have some worries to push the nuphur japonica at the center back cuz my hanging filter is located at the center. the leaf may be sucked by the inlet pipe and the center water flow is quite high so it may disturbed the plant. Seriously i m quite sick wif this filter but it really help to save alot of space and it is cheaper compare to canister.

Maybe i place it at the left side of the tank bg?

    Hi terrence,

thanks for ur suggestions too. i also think that it is abit old fashion to place it at the center. haha. thinking of shifting it. any idea where to place it? as mentioned at the above post, my hanging filter is located at the center, so i have problems keeping tall plants at the center. Any way to solve this other than changing new filter system?

Hang the filter at the side of your tank, towards the front?

If you really want to keep the lotus, the best place for it will be on the opposite site of the rock imho.

    Hi Terrence,

I can't hang the filter at the side cuz of my placement of lightings and also that there are panes at the both side of the tank to prevent it from hanging on the sides. You can see from the pic too

You mean place in front of the rock is it? As what juggler said this plant will grow tall.. So now i was abit worry

You might want to hide your flipper behind the stem plants as the CO2 tubing is rather eye-catching.

It would be interesting to know how it turns out especially once your foreground starts to fill up.
    Cheers,
    Joe

    Yes! You removed your lotus!

The tank looks good. What you need now is to just wait for the glosso to grow and see how it turns out. I prefer to use a hardscape material in all my tanks (driftwood or rocks) because unless you're a Dutch scaper, it's rather difficult to aquascape.

You'll need to do something about the exposed "legs" of the centre plants. No so nice once glosso has grown it, it'll look too exposed.

This will have the zaogeng(run light in hokkien) effect wasn't it??
ok back to serious mood ... do u think i should shift the rock to the center? or should i place in some more rock?

wow this is much much nicer, amazing changes over such a short time. Hmm i think the DW can be angled a little more so that it looks more natural the left part angle it to left and ppush it fuurther into the plant zone.
