External, or you can try Tom Barr's misting method.

many methods. Diffusor, internal reactor or external reactor.

For diffusor, put it near the outflow of the filter will be good.

If you want a natural look for the tank and do not want any equipment to spoil the look or cause an eyesore, an external reactor is the way to go.
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.

Bubbling?...hmm..all diffuser/reactor can do the trick, but the secret of plants bubbling. - EXTREME CO2, increase the rate..haha. but be careful, its a balance, while the plants love it, the fishes can die on you with excess CO2.

General rule of tank set-up. Set the plants and all well and bubbling. then slowly intro the fishes(abt 3 to 6 months later) - This is the best condition, however, not many can resist to put those fishes into an empty tank - Including myself...haha
