rabbit dropping for fertilizer?

I have read this book about betta and gouramis. i read its plant section, its giving me a tip about fertilizing that putting rabbit dropping pellet in the gravel by the root of the plant can create a sudden boost in nutrient to help growth. I am pretty confused about it but its also tempting cuz i am just running a low budget 20 gallon plant aquarium with 43 watts of flourescent light and a aquaclear mini filter with very low fish load.

will that help me or ruin my tank?

I take these advise with a pitch of salt , I tried Horti fert. sticksbefore without any problems, break them in half and push it deep into the substrate. (Use those for ferns). They are easily available at the supermarket & plant nurseries.
