    Hi all,

Just brought a new Maqnum 2, 3ft PL light and almost immediately plants begins to bubbled crazily.Intend to increase lighting for glosso as some grows vertically but rewarded with plants pearling. Great!

Was using NA Atman PL lights, even changing the tubes every 9 mths but the plants seldom bubbled. Now I noticed its dimmer than the Maqnum.

    Cheers

Nope - not all plants pearl, only some more establish/obvious "famous" known plants bubble very well. However all plants to photosysthesis. The plants "bubble" if there is a wound on the leave. ie an opening on the leave or stem. You can try to poke a hole on a leave with a needle and it will bubble. But that is not natural...

For my tank I noticed plants like Cryptocoryne Parva, Java Fern, Japonica Blax and even Glossostigma Elatinoides all pearled. There bubbles trapped on the leaves also.

Almost all plants can "pearl" actually. It's just the accumulation of oxygen under plants' leaves that forms these bubbles in gaseous-saturated water.

Pearling is due to high level of O2 saturation in ur tank when u have all the right conditions. So I guess if you have a very high bioload, O2 will probably not be high enuff for 7up-kind of pearling...

if the water circulation is very strong, there is less pearling.
