Calling experts. What is the scientific name of this catfish?
Hope to do some research on it so I can provide a better living environment for it.

Saw it at one LFS, labelled as leopard catfish but think it was an error.

At first glance I think it is Perrunichthys perruno. I might be wrong though.

    Hi stormhawk,

Thanks for the reply. It has been identified as Leiarius longibarbis in another forum. What do you think?

    Cheers

Hi, infact both species are identical to each other except for the line patterns
on their bodies. I had kept both together before. They are equally aggressive and can reach very big. Both were around 16inches when i decided to gave to friend who has big pond. As for LFS, usually they call them Leopard Catfish for better introduction. Regards.

bossteck, if the other person who IDed this is 100% certain and happens to be a catfish expert, then probably the ID is correct. However the ID I gave is a tentative one because I'm not familiar with large cats. Based the ID on some images that I saw online.

Anyway, its either P. perruno or L. longibarbis. Either way, it doesn't matter since it seems that both get equally large and aggressive, according to what moriento just posted.
