It's been quite a while now but i guess the obsession has taken the whole of me lately well all the time in fact!! Anyway, i've decided to add another tank to the existing collection i have at my "zoo" ( home ).

The new tank will be coming in hopefully around next week. It's a 4x2x2 full euro bracing 12 mm thick with black silicon. Didn't want to have clear silicon as over time algae will start to dominate these areas hence an ugly appearance.

So in the meantime, i went out on an early shopping spree and got a "few" stuff. Mainly the technical parts first.

Here's a look into the making of hopefully a graceful Echinodorous species tank....

Xmas buying spree starts from here....

1: 1x Dymax Black Galaxy Metal Halide. Cost: $:7

This baby was definitely an investment piece and surely packs a few punches. Equipped with 2x 150Watts and 2x30Watts. Altogether a whopping 360 watts. Heat emittance is much lower thanks to the ventilation design and inbuilt fans.

When fully powered up, it's like basically having the sun in your room!!

Next on the list was an Eheim canister filter. Was debating on whether to have a 2026 or a 2028. In the end, what the heck, got myself a 2028 instead.

    Cost: $3

.... the rest to be continued .....

    Best Regards,
    Phillipe.

What followed next was a solenoid valve which caught my eye, a Dymax one. Design wise is a plus plus for me and still yet practical.

Well, of course, when ya have a solenoid, what's there without a CO2 tank right? haha Settled for a 7 litres tank. Talk about "indulgence is BLISS"....

Ok now the indulgence becomes a taunting shadow overhanging me... following me everywhere....

    Total cost so far: $13

    Cost of nearing Depression: PRICELESS!!

    Still more to come.....

    Regards,
    Phillipe.

Oh yea, initially when i bought it, it's those lights meant for marine use. After which i had them replaced with arcadia daylight tubes.

Btw, that thing weighs damn darn heavy. On a sideline note, a personal thanks to Jiesheng who helped me with my "xmas presents" !!! hehe

Hahha ... and i want a braceless tank from Santa too,.... but sadly that will never happen....

WHOA... indulgence man! Let's see the complete set-up Philipe what about the chiller?
Yea, cause i was thinking like why not splurge a teeny bit on myself since it's the holidays. Ya know the spirit of "shopping"!! hehe
Can't have the setup done now as i'll still be waiting for the tank to come in. So in the meantime, juz basically socking up errr i mean stocking up the basics first. And lastly no, there'll be no chiller as the tank will be residing in a cool environment. So temperature of water should be around 24degrees.

Oh man, that's pretty expensive but perhaps it's another brand like eg Arcadia?

Still yet more pics to come....so stay tuned..

    Phillipe,

Are you keeping the tank in an air conditioned environment? Otherwise, I can't imagine it being 24 degrees!!

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Wild Ginger, does the Dymax lighting comes with timer?
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.

Yeah, i've seen the Arcadia before. That baby cost a whopping $1500 - $1700!! Definitely a much more sleeker design with curves so smooth, ya just want to make sure there's no dust on it!! 3rd world n 1st world?? haha nah,.... I'm sure ASEAN countries are all developing at the same rate.

Is there any more vacancies, Phillipe?
Hmmmm,... perhaps if ya're a foreigner.... hehehe

Wild Ginger, does the Dymax lighting comes with timer?
Yes, it's equipped with an LED timer which fine tunes to minutes as in which one of the bulbs ya'd like to start off first and at what time ya'd like the last one to go off. After ya programmed it, it basically is fuss free.

For mine, it switches on at 6.30 with 1 FL tube followed by another and a few hours after which the MH bulb lights up and so on and so forth...

Your solenoid valve looks so cool... no wonder so many zeros in the price... envy envy...
That's why i bought it, reliable and practical yet aesthetically pleasing since the new tank is cabinetless....

porsche design for planted? a lot green face here liao...
nah not porsche, if it is, i'd be a very very very very happy PHILLIPE!!

I saw all his other tanks and already gone green liao!
Hmmmm,... perhaps the plants were taking a toll on your eyes??hehehe

    Regards,
    Phillipe.
