Well as the title suggests, had too much of Bolbitis laying around. So in the end, had to set up 2 tanks for it.
This one in particular is a 2ft length by 1ft wide and 1.5ft height. Trimmings is in black silicon.
Gravel wise is a mixture of fine smooth grey river pebbles. Lighting is by 4x36 Watts Matrix.
The initial idea was to just have a setup for mainly bolbitis. And this is what it turned out ......
Foreground and base coverage is with glosso, background curtain of plants are Heteranthera Zosterifolia. The main feature on the wood is of course that of Bolbitis Heudelotii and accompaniments by a few stalks of Nymphaea species "Green" and young Aponogeton Natans.
Still a long way to the desired effect that i'm having in mind. But as for now, the basic rough scape is there.
Best Regards,
Phillipe.

Thanks Graeme, i was thinking of changing the background plants to a more striking and contrasting colour like perhaps, ludwigia or rotala species. What do ya think?Originally Posted by Graeme

31.12.2005 Into the 19th day, had a major trim as i didn't quite like the initial backgound "curtain" feel. Cut back to form a "mount" shape to follow the growth of the bolbitis.

i like the glosso flooring....![]()
Can't wait for it to cover the entire foreground
nice nice~
Ah, the second looks much nicer. You might be right in the need for more colours, too much green here imho, even more so when then glosso covers up.
I personally think E.tenellus in place of Glosso will provide a nice contrast to the rest of the plants with the high amount of lights you have. It will also add to the "wild" look when it grows in.

Agree with weirong...
and blyxia japonica to be added after e.Tenellus be great, creating a sloping effect.
yah, e.tenellus be best option for ur foreground
But then everything will look so pointy!![]()
nice tank. how u manage to grow the bolbitis so fast? strong lighting, strong co2 and low temp??

Hi there, the bolbitis when first introduced takes around a few days to a week to acclimatize to the conditions of your water parameter.Originally Posted by ching4ever
For mine, it started sprouting a new node of leaf every 2 days and extension by a few millimetres every several days. For me, the water's kept at a cool 22degrees and an army of mosquito shrimps handling any debris or fine algae on the leaves. As long as the water's fortnightly fertilized with adequate water movement in between the roots and proper fertilization, it's a pretty undemanding plant which only requires pruning every month or 2.

Phillipe.
thank you very much. i'm only able to keep the water at 25c the lowest. maybe that is the reason it grow slower. anyway, how do you let the leaf to grow upward? mine one the leaf will grow but it is face downward....Originally Posted by Wild Ginger
