just 1 snail killer is enough. they will just hunt the snails down.

Hi,
woke up this morning to discover at least 10 mini snails in my newly started planted tank.
I got neon tetra + some Ayamoto shrimps in a 2 feet setup with CO2.
I read that puffer fish can rid the snails but will also kill the tetras and shrimps...
What can i add to my tank? Chemicals? or Killer snails?
Please help. It's urgent as I will be travelling soon.
Thanks
Michael

Hi Alan,
Thanks. It won't harm the shrimps and the tetra right?
So puffer fish is not advised, right?
Thanks
Michael

i think i read from google that clown loaches eats snails. because i am also encountering snail problem
puffer WILL eat shrimps. just get the snail killer. if not just crush any snails you see at the side of the wall. some protein meal for your shrimps too.

hi guys,
managed to get 2 snail killer snails from Green Chapter to help clear the other snails...
am surprised the snail killers are so small.. about 5mm only each. understand that they will grow... but wonder how long that will take. And also, it moves really really slowly...
wonder how it's going to catch up with the other snails it is trying to kill...haha
hope it clears off soon...
Assasin Snails is what they are call & yes they are really slow so be very patience! Alan is right, you'll probably kill more by crashing them then the assasins! haha...patience...

will assasin snails breed a lot like any other snails?

No they only breed in their natural habitat, Blackwater! They need to lay eggs in the sea water then return to fresh water.
My mistake! I got mix up with the Nerite snails!
They will only breed provided got a male & female & at a very slow rate unlike other snails. They can only lay 1 egg each time but usually the egg will be eaten up by others in the tank before got chance to hatch! So, they do breed but very low chance!

I have about 20 Anentome Helena in my 4-footer.
They could not wipe out the snail population, doing their best to keep the number in check.
By the way, I saw 2 cute baby Anentome Helena in my tank; replicas of the adult, about 3mm each.

okay thank you

At first I have snail problem like you , and very hard to remove with snail killer medicine. and then I let four assasin snails do their job and in about one month they are gone. They also breed some baby.
