Will heavy metal accumulate?

When water evaporate, does the metal vaporize as well? Will copper accumulate and cause shrimps to die? Thank you!

Metals does not evaporate...only the H2O. You shouldn't dose that much in a non-CO2 tank like the EI method.

Only H2O evaporate. The metals stay in solution. Remove them using activated carbon and water changes. But, yah, the copper won't accumulate so much that they will kill the shrimps. Unless you introduce copper-based medication or you drop a piece of copper in the tank (maybe as part of deco)...

Yes. The will remove the fertilizer too. But do some reading on the chemicals that carbon can remove... They dun remove everything or anything. There are some chemicals/metals that they can't remove. Think there was a thread discussing this earlier.

Pros: Remove stain, remove heavy metals, remove medication
Cons: Remove fertilizer, chemicals return to tank water when saturated and carbon not removed

the copper will be used by your plants. trmming rids of it...
