How does Red Tiger Lotus propagate itself? via lateral shoots? Is it like Nuphar Japonica where there is a big fat root and the plants just shoot out from it?

By runners. Little plantlets will pop up in the surrounding areas.

    Cheers,

    i have both plants.
but the way the 2 propagates are very much different.

The RTL will laterally shoot out new plantlets, and a new RTL will emerge from that plantlet.
As for nuphar japonica, the big fat root (is that called root??) will slowly slowly grow, and at the same time, there will be new congregation points where the leaves and the thinner, longer roots will grow. But the growth of the plant is rather slow la, so expect the plant to take some time to grow.
