bro, where did u got this advertisement from?
Retailing for SGD12.00 for 10 pces.
Although Riccia is by nature, a surface plant, it can be beautifully grown underwater, however, if not fixed properly on stones or driftwood, it would float and grow on the water surface. Riccia Stone is a layout material to fix Riccia on with Riccia Line. The flat shapes of Riccia Stone, allow the creation of a beautiful foreground carpet of Riccia.
Has anyone tried this? Wonder if its more economical than buying the SS mesh and not having to worry about rust etc.

Imho, I rather see exposed Riccia stones from ADA than a stainless steel mesh. It's retailing at NA kemp.
riccia stones are just flat slate stones, its nice looking stones though..I'm trying to grow moss on it now.

I bought a bag of flat slate stones from Robinsons for roughly $1. I didn't count, but there's definitely more than 10 stones in the bag. You could also stop by the nurseries along Thomson road and get something similar for a fraction of the cost of the ADA stones...
Do you mean Robinson Department Store and which section is that?Originally Posted by brianclaw
Yup, the department store. I bought it from the one in Centrepoint. I don't know what department it's in, but it's on the top floor and they had a lot of vases and stuff in the department.
has anyone used the riccia stones? i have seen them at NA but just curious to know how you bros out there tie the riccia to the stones? I was expecting some wire mesh or netting, but it's just a smooth flat stone.
Wind fishing line around the plant to the attached to the stone and place them in.
My advise is tighter the better, the closer the line the better..don't worry too much about the riccia, they will somehow squueze out no matter how tight..
Any pros and cons using these stones? first time coming across also..
I don't know about using fishing line...last time I tried it, it was so hard to get a good coverage of the riccia, and if the stone has round edges, the line just slides around, really frustrating. I use plastic netting instead. They're called onion/garlic bags here in Syd, ie garlic sold packaged with this netting. White and very flexible. Good recycling too, no resource wastage. I just cut a section enough to wrap a stone, lay the riccia on stone and wrap the netting around, then tie at bottom with nylon.
Ah, wait, garlic and onions not sold in bags back home, or are they? Ah darn, just use hair net from pharmacy (or those hair accessories shop, hehe).
By the way, in my opinion those stones are just too expensive, maybe paying for their shape. I just use broken terracotta pots, again, don't waste resources.

I using those round gray stones found along corridors where people used for decor.
I actually took mine from the Camp Foyer where the main notice board is.
