    Hi guys,

I am trying to get a copy of this video.

    Synopsis: Explore Africa's Deepest Lake.

Take the plunge into a unique watery kingdom ten million years in the making. Now you can travel to the heat of Africa and explore the over 400 mile-long Lake Tanganyika, the deepest and perhaps oldest lake in Africa. It borders on four African countries but is definitely a world of its own. The inhabitants of this realm have evolved over millions of years, yet survival remains a daily struggle. Pytons, water cobras, clawless otters, freshwater puffers, and electric catfish all vie for safety and supremacy--or at least a meal. These creatures live and play in water as beautiful and clear as the surrounding mountain air--in one of the WORLD'S LAST GREAT PLACES.

    Director: William Kronick, Jack Kaufman
    Format: Closed-captioned, Color, NTSC
    Rated: NR
    Running Time: 60 mins
    Studio: Questar, Inc
Video Release Date: February 9, 2000
    ISBN - 0792241525

Seems like it's only available on VHS and not on DVD/VCD. It's also not available in Singapore.

Has anyone seen a digital copy anywhere in any other countries? Thanks!

    Cheers,

It's one of the most spectacular wildlife videos ever.... the scene where nearly all the cichlids abandon their usual diets and congregate (including bringing their fry) to feed on newly-hatched lake sardines is amazing!!

unfortunately, no sign of any other format but VHS though!

    It's been another year.

Anyone knows if this great video has been released on a digital format?

The folks from www.cichlid-forum.com reviewed it quite favorably.

However, Amazon is charging US$79.99 for the VHS copy and I don't even have a VHS player!

    Cheers,

    Hi Benny,

I have this as a DIVX format mpeg. It's just under 700 MB. The quality is obviously not perfect but is indeed very watchable, as Budak says there are some very nice scenes in this video, it's brilliant! Another scene of note is where the Calvus have lodged themselves into a narrow gap in a submerged tree trunk in order to escape some otter's who are looking for a quick meal.

    Regards
    Cameron James

    It is illegal.

The person who uploads the file is violating the copyright of the film.
The hosting site is clear of any legal responsibility because there's usually an agreement which user has to read and accept (which most do not) and within this agreement, there's bound to be a clause stating that copyright materials should not be shared on the torrent host.

If the copyright holder has the time/resource, it can track down the user who uploads the material and seek compenstation.

Write to NGC to see if they'd be interested to work with AQ. The marketing department should be thrilled to offer us a promotional trailer of the best segments from the video to promote for them. In the name of extending awareness of the NGC brand, you may get the clips to post up for free.

PM me for email address if you're interested to take this further.

Hmm... if we can write to NGC, why not ask them directly if they are producing it on VCD/DVD, and let them know there are people out there coveting a digital format. I suppose if they are convinced there is a market for it, it would eventually be out on VCD/DVD yes?

I think I agree with Quixotic. In AQ alone, I think we can only get 5 to 10 members to order at best, bearing in mind that most AQ members are not really into Tanganyikan Cichlids.

Letting them know that there is a demand for this might pave the way for future releases to include this title.

    Cheers,
