Thank you. Being trying different plants.

Thank you. Being trying different plants.

I use 2nd ADA black soil.
1) After setup the soil, I fill 20 % water and let it rest for 1 or 2 hrs than drain all.
2) later I fill in 30% water and let it overnight and drain all 2nd day.
3) Finally fill up 80% of my tank with water and the conditon only a bit cloudy.
than I start to do planting... it take about 2 weeks to make water clear.
Oh I fill up the 50% of water at 3rd round from my old tank.
** the first 2 setup I didn't turn on the canister filter. The reason i start planting at 3rd round is becos normally at 1st round or 2nd planting than can see a lot dirt reside on the leave surface...

I used ADA amazonia soild (black) in both of my planted tanks. On first partial filling, for planting, the water will obviously turn cloudy, or even brownish. After that you have to drain all the water if possible, and fill up very slowly.
No matter how much care you take, I notice that the water will still be cloudy. I attribute this to the new tank, and the BB colony has not yet settled. What I do is that, after one week, I do a 50-75% WC, and after that, problem solved. Water is very clear.
Let's say you wanna rescape again (major rescape), you have to drain 80+% water and do your planting... Then you drain all water again then you fill up... You wun have to do major W.C to clear cloudy water again... I noticed much of the difficulty in getting rid of the cloudy brown water only happen on first setup when the ADA soil is used.

I agree with green baron, give a few more days , the good beneficial bacterias will clear the water for u, I HAD the same problem as u , i using Ada for my 3ft with internal filter...Originally Posted by Green Baron

I have never had cloudy issues with the 12 ADa soil tanks I've done.
2 tanks where cloudy for about 4-6 hours but nothing more than that.
