    thats very small...
    hmm do they compact together a lot?
    may be a bit crushing on the plant roots if they are compact

    Ah OK; I think I get what you mean by the gravel being porous. It doesn't look as though they'll compact; in fact, they seem light enough to almost float around, although I'll only be sure after I open up the bag and tinker around with a bit.

    haha hopefully somebody who has tried can advise you on mixing of the gravels

    That's OK; I headed down to NA in the afternoon and Mr. Chan let me exchange both the bags of JBL gravel for a third bag of Africana. Hope this all works out now. Thanks for the advice again. )

    Just curious, what is the name of the JBL gravel that was exchanged? I presume that the JBL fertiliser is JBL Aquasoil?

    I don't know for certain. The plastic packets of gravel were unlabelled, but they had "JBL" written on them.

    The gravel comprises small circular objects though of around 1 to 2 mm diameter each. Pretty small.
    I think the substrate you mentioned is JBJ (Taiwan) not JBL (Germany) .
    Aquatic plants and LEGO collector.
