Does that mean it will be overkill if I stick to buying the 4x54W T5 HO AND still use my old 2x55W PL?

I think fei miao is referring to the PAR or Lumens difference between a T5 & PL. Thus since T5Ho with a gd reflector generally can have higer lumens than PL, it will also means we need less wattage.

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

So, will it be an overkill if I switch on all 6 tubes? confused:

That's a golden question. What do u consider as overkill? How do u measure it?

Moreover, if u have a 6 tube setup, u'll definitely have multiple switches to control the tubes. Thus u can play with them by switching on and off the amount of tubes u like.

    Cheers

Hmm... Ya, can play with 4 or 6 tubes on at a time... Thanks... Just scared that the tank water will end up boiling if all 6 tubes are switched on... Keke...

Justikanz, you can compare the brightness from the 4 T5 tubes and together with the PL tube. If the PL tube doesn't add brightness, then you switch it off. But I guess the 4 T5 tube is enough.
