Yes, it is a natural thing found in the wild. Google marimo ball.

Kinda difficult to scape using it... but it can be done... Try using smaller balls and many of them... I think they look cute...

Kinda defeats the purpose of getting the balls, right?

But can it really be done? They are one of the more beautiful algae, in fact the ONLY algae on sale... (Right?)

You can also simply placed it some where in your foreground. Looks cute. This is the only algae I like cos it doesn't spread to other areas. It just grow on itself but quite slow grower.

But you will need to rotate it once a while, otherwise the bottom part will lose its color a bit. In the river where they are found, the current is very strong, thus they are rolled around the river bed. That's how they form the ball shape there.

Had used on both high maintenance and low maintenance tank before. Easy plant or shall I say algae. Shrimp-proof and SAE-proof too.

hehe..would be great if able to post a few of ur scapes which has Marimo think they look cute sia. there's even soft toy made after it! some website says we need to "clean" the marimo ball, by taking it out and squeeze the ball to remove the dirty water inside because it is abit like sponge. I think i'm going to try have marimo for my next experiment with Iwagumi.
