it looks like a male, thought you don't take pix haha,
you know when you feed them have you got any that deepen in colour, and won't let the other fish get to the food if you have they are your females,
they should start pair up soon, will post a pic of one of the youngsters defending the blood-worm to give you a guide un your fish.
ps my fry are battleing all the time be glad to see them go.

Here's that pic I mentioned earlier, that is a definite female.

    Mick,
I guess I have to start somewhere with the camera.. haha.
I am still clueless with regards to sexing them.
Others have said that finnage are longer for males, but looking at your pix,
the female has long finnage as well..

For the 1st batch, out of 4, one of them doesn't display the dark bands at all times.

PS: I am definitely looking forward to February!
By the way, Mick, why don't you get into L46 breeding?

its not a bad start to your photography, my first pic was a great shot of my thumb, haha.
as to the L46 , they are very expensive here and a bit of a rarity, ive not seen one for about 3 yrs now, but am doing well with the L144 ive got around 100-150 fry so far, i should get a reasonable price for them .
btw when you said the first batch is that the 4 fish you already had, or the ones from me ?

First batch is the one I had before I got yours.
Anyway, they spawned again last night.. but eggs were whitish..
    Looks like another failed attempt??
I suggested L46 to you because its such a highly sought after fish..
And with your uncanny ability to breed fish, you could well become very rich!

yorky, the eggs are a greenish-white colour, so they might be alright,
great pix of that female. the L46 in uk are for a young fish unsexed about £175, and if i could i'd want at least 6 fish, how much adults are god only knows.
