    Hi

I have a 2227 Eheim filter and it leaks whenever the power trips. I suspect the rubber band used to seal the top part to the canister is worn out. Therefore, I'm considering a in-tank type of filter systems. Juwel's Box Filtration system comes to mind. Can anyone share their experience with this filter? What are the pros and cons for using it in a planted tank. I'm ok with sacrificing a little space to house the box inside the tank. At least, I don't have to mettle with unsightly hose. What's the price like for the Jumbo model meant for 4 ft tank and above. I saw at Nature Aquarium, a taiwan made box filter system going at $60 plus.

    TIA

this specific problem is due to the aging of the O-ring

it is a rubber ring that runs the perimeter of the filter.

just look for a replacement for that ring and everything will be fine

internals take up valuable tank space and are less convenient to service

Thanks. But where to get O-ring replacement? Is it expensive?

    Juwel tanks/filters...ughhh!
Juwel tanks are so popular here in the UK, they are pretty much the only tanks we can get. Personally, i do not like the filteration system. They dont even really produce a current, though that is good for planted tanks. I reccomend these as a support filter, but not as a main filter.

Petmart and amybe Nature has them too. Depending on your loaction, go to the most convenient lfs. Price would not differ too much. It would be better if you give them a call to see if they have stock.

Check http://thegreenbook.com for the contact and address.
    Cheers!!
