May i know how did you get the idea to scape your current tank?

one comment is that if you are able to scape your substrate so that it is completely flat your tank scape will be much much more better.

may i know what is your profession? because i find your tank very indepth.
In-depth, thanks, this must be a compliment...

    Welcome to AQ!

I did initally at the hardscape stage to have the subsrate flat, a flat surface does provides a canvas back that enhances the subject matter...but I thought to rise the woods up since this is quite a deep tank, just trying out something different.. I'm a designer by training...

i guess when you equate clamness to flat substrate then i can see where you're coming from.. but the angled substrate in this case seems to accentuate the woods more.. and draw the eyes a little further up.

angled substrate from the front can also give the tank depth.. try making a path sort of scape with flat substrate and you get a swallowing feel to the scape. no??

Hi Ramasan, you are right that a sloping substrate will give depth, and will give an amazing effect if the plants and woods are position like curtains all the way back.

This theme tank is a single solitude tank with one focal point, the object in this focal point is place such that it explodes and almost (apparently) ants to come out of the tank. And in this a touch of green rise above the ash.

The sloping and swallowing effect will be an icing to a scenic tank, i view Fei Mao's tank as a meditation tank.

errr...i am right??? i dont need the confirmation... aquascaping, very much like design, is subjective... there are general trains of thought and the odd different one...technically there is no right or wrong. i was just stating an opinion..
as long as FM likes his tank can liao... dont really care flat or sloping la..kekeke

oh..btw.. sloping = no swallowing efect..instead distance effect..
Flat = swallowing effect...makes you dizzy.. not good.
ÏF viewed from front with path like scape.
