Anyone here got success with low lighting before? I am trying to use a low wattage (11W) for my 1 1/2 foot tank. which is about 1 foot deep, I doubt it will work with a deeper tank.

So far, my plants are holding up, but I am keeping my fingers crossed still, will see how in 2 weeks time if they are growing well in the tank. Will post a picture then.

Sure I've tried. Plants still grow, just at a slower rate so that means you have to find ways to keep things stable at this slow growing rate.

I did something similar with my 2ft. only had 15 watts of FL light and I didn't bother the change the tube for a year... never added ferts, no CO2.

If the plants are low in light requirement, possible.

I have three 1ft low-tech cubes that run on 9W,10W and 11W. All have either mosses, ferns, Saggitaria subulata, Lilaeopsis brasiliensis, crypts...

Here is the picture of my tank after 4 days. The back is an ad hoc of difformis, becopa, pennywort and some stem plant I forgot the name, has white veins on the leaf. In the front, I have nana petite, tenellus and alot of a plant that look like sagittaria, but smaller. Pls give me your opinion.

Come to think of it.. yeah, tenullus is much thinner and the blades grow more densely...
