Should be able to fix it by yourself. Pricewise, not too sure.
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.

Are you referrring to the lever to lock/release the hoses ? I think it is less than $20. To change the lever you need to take apart the filter head. My friend broke the lever but the Qian Hu technician was unable to repalce the lever as the screws on his filter head were all rusted and cannot be unscrewed The Qian Hu staff suggested he replace the whole filter head which costs as much as a new filter ! In the end he glued back the lever using superglue and so far it is holding up.

I would suggest you bring your filter head to Qian Hu and get them to replace the lever for you.

Mine also broken by previous owner when I got it 2nd hand. But still can use. Pry open gently to prevent further breakage.

    Is yours very bad?

I can't afford to bring it for repair now. Then how do I keep the filtration going in the current 5ft tank?

Since you drive, you can bring just the filter head to Qian Hu for repair. I think the tank can go with filter for 1~2 hrs if you put in a bubbler.
The staff at Qian Hu are very helpful and knowledgeable and I am very impressed with their service.

Mine was quite bad but I guess if I was desperate I could pry them close. However I didn't try as I switch to my 'standby' 2236 filter

It is a good idea to have a spare filter as standby If you have more than 1 tank. A good 2nd hand Eheim filter can be had from $50~$100.

The thing is it can be closed by pushing. But if need to open it have to use screw driver or something to pry it open. But if goes on like this, dunno how long it can last...

when you pry it open, just be careful not to damage the remaining handle. it should last you a long time. you don't need to use the handle that often, only when cleaning the filter, right?

I suggest sending it to Qian Hu to repair it. It may rust only on the surface but given time, the whole screw might be rusting. May be a bit troublesome now but after the repair it should not hold you back. Go for it.

Mine had the same problem. Quia Hu person said we should clean, check and oil the screws on the filter head when we clean the 202x filter, and replace them if they are rusting.

If only the thread of the screw is worn off then you can replace it with a new screw. You can get the screw from any hardware shop.
However if the thread in the hole on the filter head is worn off or the screw breaks when you unscrew then you are toast !
