Bought an apisto a few days ago from Wu Hu at TIong Bahru, was told by the shop owner it is a snail killer after I explained I had a snail problem. Initially, I asked for a zebra or a clown loach, but he said why not get an apisto. So I went along with it. Few days later and few more chomped up leaf, I dunno if the apisto is really cleaning up the snails for me. Anyone had experience with them as snail killers?

I can't seem to get a good shot of my apisto as it keeps hiding among my stem plants. I heard they do eat snails, but nowhere even near what puffers can do. Now I am worried it is not even eating properly. Might trade it for a German Ram if I can catch it.
Of course, nothing can come close to puffers in wiping out snails. Puffers are equiped with powerful teeths that can crush the shells of the snails.Originally Posted by Jungle-mania
Rams will eat the small/baby snails but will be be able to eat the larger ones. This is good in that it keep the snail population in check without totally wiping them out.
