If someone is STUPID enough to POST ILLEGAL stuffs on blog.
If the LAW catch-up with u, its all your FAULTS!
IMO, that guy is very inconsiderate, considering the BEAST can cause HARMS to other ppls, claiming ignorance is no legitimate excuse.

    Hi Ppl,
Just like to share with you guys, I love to trek and fish and keep fish. You would be very surprised as to what is in our reserviors now. For protected turtles not from our island, at least 5 species can be found in our reservoirs. In one particular reservoir, you can get at least about 6 species of cichlids not counting the hybrids. If you don't know by now, there is peacock bass in every known and unknown pool of water in singapore. (This is a all conquering species and it multiplies like no other ). And if you are wondering about the demise of our local species, first came the Toman, then Sebarau(very aggressive carni carp from malaysia) and finally the peacock bass. For the last 2, they are very prolific hunters and none will stand in their way. And you are wondering what water sports will do to our reservoirs. What a load of crab!! Enjoy it while you can, ppl. Peace.

PS: If you are really really good enough, you can even get Motoro, reticulated and tiger hor..so please be careful when you decide to step into the water hor because I was also witness to a release of a 3 foot catfish from africa.( the owner just smiled and walk away.....)

ah ha, time to recruit mr ikanz for my phototaking brigade

actually anyone knows AVA? tell them to organise a "foreign creature catching day". the public will be allowed to fish (for a fee of $100), and all non-native fish/creatures caught can be kept, and with a rebate of $10 each.

Budak will be the honorary judge presiding, deciding which catch is non-native.

I know that, please read the second parts. Just want to point out the level stupidity involved, after interviewed by AVA, he & his gang still put those comments on the same blog.

I think the AVA doesn't have the manpower to monitor and act upon every single post. Probably they prioritise and take action only when a more serious case (e.g. snapping turtle) is involved.

Personally, I think there's a case to be made for legalising herp pets in Singapore (given my understanding that many species are captive-bred), but with strict regulations such as microchipping and annual licensing of all potentially invasive species (so that the owners can't abandon or 'lose' the animals). The costs of these regulations could be (more than) recouped by 'reasonable' licensing fees; after all, people are already paying black market prices to own these animals.

They are more than aptly funded! gentlemen. It the same old story again, the focus is not on this area. Just look at Chek Java over at pulau ubin, well at least they have the nature society. Our reservoirs main function is water catchment, other functions are secondary priorities. I think some of the rangers might even be surprise by what they catch sometimes. We need to have volunteers, ppl. Something like divers relocating corals around our island, that sort of things. Someone to take up the challenge, you need ppl with passion for the job and not just for the ricebowl. If anybody from AVA or NEA is reading, you need separate depts for fresh water and sea water. They are very diverse eco cultures. The master plan needs to be rethink...maybe we can start now.

    Hi Choy,
Actually that would be a very good idea. That will generate enough publicity and maybe kick start the 'movement', funding that kind of thing. There are still p0ockets of beauty inside our reservoirs.

It really goes to show our emphasis on the economy over environment is really churning out people who take nature for granted.

And our emphasis on good education had gone down the drain... Tsk tsk tsk...

Parents pamper their kids too much and they churn out to be Highly-educated, technically-inclined, foul-speaking, environmental-unfriendly, selfish fools... *Sigh* And how many of them will turn up to be the country's leaders later? *Sigh*...

Actually, Mike, the reserviors look beautiful... That's the reason why many people do not care what is going on in/under the water... They can't see what's going on under the water and won't care... Till some monster bite/hurt/kill someone... Then they will go 'Kill it. Kill them!'... *Sigh*...
