The first time I went to the shop and saw this I wanted to tell the shop-keeper (Ben wasn't around) but I left after I heard the pony-tail talked about aro-specific-lighting to this old man whom obviously absorbed everything heard as absolute true.Originally Posted by Fei Miao
Then after dinner I make another trip to the shop, hoping to find Ben but still didn't managed to find him, and saw/heard the other shop-keeper spinning a tale about how to keep an aro in a planted tank to a small group of people.
Then I left. I wish I had a chance to talk to Ben.

Worse, they had a land hermit out of its shell INSIDE a tank full of water...![]()

I saw them plant nanas deep into the gravel in their huge display tank at the entrance a few weeks ago![]()

I think someone need to tell Ben that his display tank has too many fishes and too little plants. Plus the CO2 injection rate is way too low given the splashing of the sump. How about the chiller? Looks like it is overloaded. I worry about his dragon. Kept hanging at the corner and fins and tails don't look too well to my untrained eyes. There are dead silk-worms (is that what it is called) lying at the bottom of the tank. Don't shoot the messager, but I think it is heading towards disaster like the one in his Havelock setup..

No more Dragon in the display tank when I went just now.
His Apistos all look pale in the coral filled tanks![]()

hm...did you inform Ben about it?

Err... Intending to get rams for my new tank, so want to clarify something here...
Coral chips increase pH or decrease pH? And cichlids like acidic water right? So ADA soil should in a way be good for them hor?

If I didn't get things wrongly, coral chips work to increase the pH and hardness of water. Common and popular South American dwarf cichlids (Rams, Apistos) and the West African Kribs (and cousins) live in acidic waters.

Can someone find out what happened to the dragon? When I was there some days back one guy alerted Ben that his dragon was behaving strangely but Ben replied that his dragon was "just curious about the overflow system and so was looking at it the whole day". I thought the cramped fins and tails said something else..Originally Posted by bezz
Thomas..saw the hermit as well that night with you...i was really upset about that but ben wasn't there... i left shortly afterwards.. its been bugging me till today...think will put in a word about it the next time i see him

His display tank is slowly getting overtaken by algeaI think with the tank getting sunlight, it'll take more effort and skill to maintain, but Ben doesn't seem to know how to do a proper planted tank. When he first set up the tank, I asked him what HP his chiller is and he said he has no idea but he knows that water is cold so its okay
most of the nana he planted deep into the substrate have melted and his Blyxia are all turning yellow
