Boraras maculatus in a pool in the forest. The local population seems to have a smaller average size than specimens in Malaysia (Pahang), but a stronger hue of red.

swee swee! now, never tell where.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Budak already mention that it's the Singapore specimen, not Pahang specimen! Isn't that a very specific disclosure of location already?

Budak! How did you get so close to the fish in the wild?

    Cheers,

meaning, Budak must not tell people where it is found (exactly)

More than once, I have heard people (who were looking at me peering into the streams and pools) exclaim aloud, "Aiyah, only longkang fish la!"

Good...the more people think that these fishes are longkang fishes..the more they will leave them alone..which is great.

You mean -- the fish is not found deep in the forested area?

Ooh... i don't suppose you got the water parameters? Ph? kh? Well, good to know they're still out there. Hopefully someone'll start a captive breeding programme to preserve our native strains...

    I volunteer my tank!
