Something went wrong and I've lost 3 Apisto and 3 Ram. Most of them had big tummy before they died. Some were at the surface breathing hard. What went wrong? Too much CO2? Likely but why aren't the other fishes such as red-nose, cardinal, discus and other Apisto affected?

    Any advice?

    Thanks!

    what were you feeding them?

personally i find that apistos are not exactly hardy fish. I had lost quite a lot of them thru the years. sometime they just suddenly collapse without prior warnings. thats why i'm usually quite reluctant to pay too high a price for them

Yes food contamination means bad food eaten which aslo means bad water so causing the fish to have internal paradize which will means dropsy too.
    Cheers!

Thanks guys! I believe it could dropsy and water problem. My mum cooks special dishes for my wife who is on maternity. I believe there was a layer of oil on top of the water. Anyway, just bought 4 more Apisto from Toh. Now, I put them in different tanks away from the cooking area.
