Hmm... I just called NA. Mr Chan is also selling the same set. He confirmed Dymax is using the eBallast for HO tubes. The reflector, however, is not changable and is just a normal U aluminum plate, which he says 'is good enough' for planted tanks. Price wise he did not disclose fully but I believe is either the same as C328 or slightly cheaper. As such, I think I better get from C328... Save my transportation fees...

Now I just need to confirm I can just place it on top of the tank like my PLs...

Yay, new lights... But my poor wallet...

Hmm... thanks, Mordrake... The set do look much nicer in black... But the price wise is similar (in fact slightly more ex) and they also come with Al reflective panel for reflectors... And the 4x54W set can only arrive end of the month... Think will stick to Dymax...

no lah, the lights are here. only the stand for the 4ft will arrive monthend.
i'd recommend you to get this set and there's a 1yr warranty on the ballast and the after sales service from aquamarin is really good.
    Cheers,

Hmm, mordrake... Sent the seller an email liao...

Some points that deter me from buying from them, at this moment...
    1) Transport, Jln kayu a little far... Do they deliver?
    2) Stand late. Does that mean the set will be late? Esp for delivery, if they provide?
3)Trouble shooting... Does it mean I have to go to Jln Kayu?
    4) They may not have tubes for plants as they deal with reefers...

Just some points that pop up in my mind...

Will ask NA and C328 if Dymax provides warranty periods too...

okay..granted you've already bought the light set thomas.. but i was there the other day and saw this set in person.. it was very very nice.. and the stand is not the ordinary type... after mounting.. the stand allows you to lift the light set like you would a cover on hindges.. i thought that was a really cool feature.. plus its very well vented on the top. If not for the reflectors on this set being a U shaped one.. i would have bought it on the spot.

Mike, I just installed the lights today. Damn bright. I am wondering now if the 2x55W PLs are still needed... Will do a better review in a few day's time...

One thing I hate is the stand. I have totally NO IDEA how to install the stand. The lights are now being placed DIRECTLY on the tank.

If anyone here owns this set and knows how to install the stand, let me know!

Justin, you are talking about AquaMarin's set or the Dymax set? If it is the AquaMarin set, I could buy it for the 2ft tank, if it is really that good....

Btw, NA's Mr Chan just recommended me a T5 HO set, brand unknown. The ballast also EBIRU (can't remember the correct name... ). Damn cheap... If you guys interested, can go down to NA and talk to Mr Chan. Has 3 tubes too. I asked about 4ft and 2ft ones.

i am talking about the aquamarin ones... if the reflectors dont bother you..Pls check the ballast b4 u buy and make sure its 4 T5 HO usage. I went DIY because im love fixing things and the reflectors matter to me a lot.

Also..if your wallet really suffering still going to buy for 2ft?? siao ah..

Heh heh... The 2ft tank will be a SLOW project... Purchases to be made SLOWLY...

The set recommended by NA is really cheap... Almost half price! I am thinking of checking it out in detail later and then decide which to buy. When the tank had been bought, that is...

Let me take some pics and post here on the T5 set from Dymax later...

Mike, Ang Pow, everyone wants, right? If you give, I will accept. Was that an invitation?

I was refering to visiting Justin to get his rocks after I settled the tank, eh...

    Dear Thomas,
It's the season to be giving, if you come I'll definitely give. Probably change the orange to 2 Amano rocks too...

And the review of the lights as Thomas said is... intensity is excellent but also cannot figure out how to use the stand, can anyone advise? Cannot get it to upright position leh!

Erm... getting confused here.... correct me if i got it wrong...

Aquamarin T5 Set: comes with parabolic reflectors, better ventilation and "flippable" hood for better access to the tank.

Dymax Starlight T5 set: comes with normal u-shaped reflectors and not "flippable" and not so user-friendly stands.....

the aquamarin ones come with normal U shaped reflectors.. but tehy are individual reflectors... one over each tube.

The dymax one is one reflector over the ENTIRE 4 tubes.
