    Hi,

just started a 2.5x1x1.5ft Planted, looks like this:

There's actually more plants but I do not have a more recent pic of it. I'll try to list what I had done so far.

    Base fert=1 bag of JBL
4kg of ADA Amazonia for the front
15kg of Lapis Sand for the rear
2x36W PL on for 8 hrs a day
    CO2 @ 1 bubble per minute
    PH ~ 7 to 8
    Temp ~ 27C
    5 yamato, 3 pleco, 15 neon tetras

Now my question is, my mosses like melting leh, the tips like got mould like that, dunno whether it's collecting dirt or melting. But when I brush it with my fingers it breaks away and the moss left with stems only.... !!! no more leaves !!! Did I do something wrong ??

    Dear Macross,
I'm taking a wild guess here, but I had a similar experience earlier on, the mouldy thing is dirt. It happen when I decide to uproot a few plants and then...... Your moss looks ok leh...27 degrees sound decent enough.

From your picture, it looks like there are new growth (lighter green leaves) on the tips of your moss. So seems alright to me. =)

CO2 no enough lar ... increase the bubble to 2-3 than measure your PH and KH to check the co2 amount.

I only experience when new tank setup and poor CO2 condition.

My moss also was like that as what valice mentioned, was dirt... however I did find that some of my moss actually did die off (became brown) but with death brings new life and more new moss started growing...

Also, you mentioned that your CO2 is 1 bubble per minute? Isn't that a bit too little? Or did you make a typo, 1 bubble per second?

By the way, sorry to bring this topic a bit off-key, (maybe this plays a part too?) but moss does not favour strong currents and prefers waters?

    For your info, I'm using a 2026 set to 3/4 output. It's a 3x1.5x1.5 shrimp tank.

Ok ok... a bit too much... cause some bro said my moss got light green tips means new leaves coming out. But I got 1 mini nana in my tank and got 1 leaf melting from the middle. just that 1 leave, should I cut it away or let it melt?

Sorry I'm late.. They are right. Light green tips means new life, introduce a few shrimps into your tank and you will get the answer. Cut the melting leaves away and you will be rewarded..
