Confirm not Crypt.
Hi All Plants Guru,
Apologise for the blur pix (tank is still clearing up), anyone can ID this plant I got? Is it a Cryptocoryne walkeri (lutea) or Echinodorus 'Rubin'? Or is it something else?
Thanks

Confirm not Crypt.

Am no expert, but it sure is the Echinodoras 'Rubin'. How big is yours? I had one that refuses to grow, even after several years...
Cryptocoryne walkeri is smaller, with yellowish-light brownish (dunno what colour to use to describe it, but you get the idea) leaves and has no visible veins on the leaves.

I'm crypt collecting... Starting cheap, now have Cryptocoryne beckettii, C.beckettii var petchii, C.crispatula var.balansae, C.griffithii(Melted!), C.nurii, C.parva, C.pygmaea(Melted!
), C.tonkinensis(Melted!
), C.walkeri, C.wendtii 'Brown', C.wendtii 'Green', C.wendtii 'Green Gecko', C.wendtii 'Tropica' and Cryptocoryne x willisii
Oh, juggling is hard work, man!...
That's a Echinodorus 'Rubin', confirm.
Thanks guys.
Thomas, mine is quite big. Its taking up a space of more than 1/2sqft with its open outspread leaves.
Cheers

Hi JC, whatever gave you the idea that it was a crypt. lutea??
Something about the water & the fishes that calms me down.
Hmm.. Actually, I go by pix ID. Dun even know how to differential a crypt and Echin. Care to teach me? Me a noob to plants.

One sure fire way... Echis have crowns, Crypts have rizhome like roots...
Echis spread via runners and Crypts spread by shoots growing out from the rizhome-root...
Am I right?![]()
