    Anyone can id wat kinda emperor tetra this is? understand that there is more than 1 kinda emperor tetra.....thanks!

    hi caca, this is a nematobrycon palmeri, a good looking male ,
    ive seen some very good sized ones at fish shows in the uk, the fish were well over two ins body lenght.

    i'm not sure on common name cos got so many... but i think should be blue emperor

    caca, you've already said it's name, emperor tetra,
    ranmasatome, the blue tetra is (inpaichthys kerri) the other fairly common emperor is (nematobrycon lacortei) this is the one with red eyes.

    mick i was under the impression that they are all emperor tetras..

    like blue emperor tetra.. black emperor tetra.. and red emperor tetra..

    oh well..makes no sense talknig about common names.. they weren't even official to begin with.. thats why i only bother with scientific names.. but i think common names have their uses..

    they are all called emperors, but the one in the pic is just called the emperor tetra, i agree with you on the scientific names though.
