cure for white-spot

Went Penang for 5 days then come home 1/2 my fishes gone, maybe due to pH swing. I added 4 tsp of sodium bicarbonate so caused the pH swing then fish get alkaline burn.

Now this problem solved but fish get white-spot due to stress I thinking if I just run the UV sterlizer alone will get rid of ICK or need to put salt?

uv gets rid of the parasite in the water, yes
uv gets rid of most of the parasite in the water, yes
uv maintains an endemic level of the parasite in the water, yes
uv will never completely cure ich, yes

so unless you like to see the problem come back each time you stress the fish, use salt

what's the correct dosage of salt to use?

BTW my cardinals died till left abt 30 from nearly 100 and it is all the cardinals that had the white-spot now. The other fish all don't have. I will have to add the salt.

Cooking salt can or not? too tired to buy aquarium salt.

i can't see a reason why not, but even university (.edu) web pages say not to use table salt
1 tbsp per 5 gal (~20l) should do the trick
maintain for 1 wk
if you do water changes remember to redose the salt accordingly
