I just acquire a pair of Apistogramma trifasciata. However, after introducing them to my tank the pair doesn't seem so "paired" after all. The male is always chasing the female around.

Is there any chance that they will pair off after some time?

    Hi BC,
Can you provide more description of your tank setup and parameters?
A pair of apistos usually means a male and female.. not necessarily paired up, unlike Discus. Unless you have been told that they have already bred before.
Also, its quite normal for the male to chase the female.

You might want to provide more hiding space, either plants, caves or wood.
That way, they can have some of their own territory.
Get them comfortable first with the surroundings..

My pair of Tri took a while (couple of weeks) to spawn after I bought them, even though before that they shows no sign of pairing up. They are good parents in my comm tank. Too bad the male suddenly "disappears". Don't know what happened to him. Never see his body. Don't think is the female's fault as they were OK with the fries around. Suspect might be due to fight with the bigger Caca.

Yeah. I realise that too late. After it dried up on the floor.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

When they get frighten then can do anything like banging on the glass, cutting in an out of rocks or any hiding media. They also tend to jump out of the tank, maybe putting some floating plants will prevent such incident to happen. The best is still a cover over the top of the tank.
    Cheers!
