just set it to be in sync with normal daylight hours.
you can always switch on light at night when you want to admire your tank.

I think it doesn't matter when the timing is set. As long as it is regular and between 8-10 hours, the fishes and plants will get used to it and go with the timing... Just like us flying around the globe...
i switched on mine for 8hrs daily....from 4-12am.... cos i dun wan brighten my living room @ night when all everybody sleeping...so i set it to off at 12 midnight...
i'm ADDicted to this wonderful hobby
My setup is set at 10hr a day from 4pm to 2am. It gives the impression that there is someone at home even though there may not be. But sometimes I be hanging around the tank before it switch off, just for curiosity sake though.
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.
Don't walk behind me as I might not lead, don't walk in front of me as I might not follow. Walk beside me, as my friend.
Mohamad Rohaizal is my name. If it's too hard, use BFG. I don't mind.
I set mine so that I can look at the aquariumss before I leave and when I am back from work: 7:30am-8:30am and 5pm-12am
yea, mine is 2pm to 11pm.....most of us usually sets the time such tat we can view our precious aquariums b4 sleep, after we come back or before we leave the house.....so its realli up to u to set the timings to fit your schedule.....
cheers!

So if i set light from 4pm - 12 am the natural daylight b4 da light time on will not affect photosynthesis of the plant ? Also lets say I set lighting from 7pm - 5 pm will our day time effect the growth of plants ??![]()
It shouldn't, assuming your tank receives little lighting from windows during the day.
