Anybody into toy collecting? From what I heard from Weirong, it's not child's play and some action figures can cost up to 4 digits!!

Stormhawk is also into zoids. Fish keeping is now secondary.

    Hi all,

I'm not really away from my fishes. Recently lost a large number of fish including some precious killies. I was close to breaking point so I took a breather and cut back on tank space. When one feels close to burnout its time to take a timeout..

Anyway, I've been busy with toy collecting, which has been my other dormant hobby for ages. Haven't been happier. At least they don't die on me.

Justin, anytime man, in fact after CNY would be a good time. After angbaos drop in, time to go shopping of course.
and yes, thanks for the tips on the custom. Looks like my friends kinda like the critter and the current colour scheme.

I've split this out for separate discussion.

Incidentally, I have old star wars figurines. Is there a local forum where I can sell them? Or only on Ebay?

There used to be a selling place in Katoots but they took it down recently after the major revamp of the forum. You can try selling them on Yahoo Singapore auctions or Ebay Singapore or any of the Ebay sites. Note however on Ebay you will be charged a fee for some items that you put up for sale.

If you need help let me know. Star Wars has a pretty good following here.

    As for me, Zoids only.

But more profitable to sell on overseas Ebay than on local Ebay.. Becos, you can not only earn from the item sale, you can also earn from postage...

Well, everyone has a child inside. Most toy collectors collect them by trying to make up for what they lost during childhood, which is PRICELESS!!!
But sadly, the local scene is still quite stagnant. Not that many serious toy collectors around, unlike USA, where the folks are really ga-ga over them!
At least that's what I am seeing over these past few years.
The only thing which is making me look locally again is the strength of our currency. Doing business with USA is now more risky that ever.

True and False. Your item does get more people taking a peek as anyone all over the world has access.
But wait til you see your fees getting deducted through the various channels - eBay, Paypal, local banks and see what you are left with.
Folks are smart too. They do know how much you are charging for postage and what it's actually worth!

Valice, they can always check Singpost to be sure..

That's why its best not to overcharge on shipping costs. A few dollars more to cover up packaging costs is fine but not when you overcharge them by 10 USD or more.. like what happened to me with a seller in Korea.

Best to offer items locally since you don't need to worry about postage. Look first at the strength of the foreign exchange rates before you plan to do deals with overseas buyers.

if I knew star wars is worth so much these days, I wouldn't have gave all 50+ pieces, a x-wing and a millenium falcon to my cousin who threw them away. haiz

    I have a few, but I don't think it's a collection. I just like them.
