I have a 120 gal already fish established tank. I am getting ready to start adding plants. I have already lined the botton w/ 3 in of ecocomplete and added 2 30in Satillite dual tube lights. My question is what type of additives I need and the best type of co2 for a large tank. I've already asked to be put on a waiting list for a Milwaukee co2 set up w/ pH controller.
    Thanks,
ps- fish wise- I have pink kissers, corys, loaches, and a knife fish, balas, & silver dollars, also 2 large plecos.

Pink kissers? Kissing gouramis? They and the silver dolars will feast on your plants...

What is your knife? The clown knife can grow to at least 2ft long... Your corys will end up as snacks...

Time to condsider either changing the fish, or getting a new tank, or using plastic plants...

Or you can start algae farming.. Sounds like your fish'll rip up the plants before long.

    Hi Jessica,

    Welcome to Aquatic Quotient.

Just wondering why you have to be put on a waiting list for the CO2 set and the pH controller? Can't you just buy it off the web? Should not be a problem in US right?

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

    Welcome to AQ!

You might want to start reading about fertilisers in the link in my signature, then go to your LFS and see what they have.

I assume you're asking about what type of CO2 injection is best for a large tank? I'd suggest a internal or external reactor (can be bought too) to mix up your CO2 with your tank water. Diffusors are another option, but they're problematic if you don't use them well.

Have good water circulation around the tank, and mixing CO2 with a reactor should cause no algae problems for you. Most algae problems stem from CO2 "mis-usage" and poor tank maintainence (ammonia).
