I don't. I just pull the mess bit out whilst holding the rest down. Works for a while.

I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
But does your bottom rot away?
Of course you have to trim your moss. Trimming produces allows the moss to grow nicer imho. Every 2 weeks will be a good trimming schedule.
got to be careful here.. when I first started in this hobby I trimmed my java moss once. and because of that the hairgrass in the foreground was never the same; java moss stuck everywhere, impossible to remove.Originally Posted by |squee|
That's where you gotta be careful. Right now I'm using my hands to yank off moss. As I get money, I'll get a set of long tweezers and sisscors to do the job properly.
My opinion is don't cut the moss with scissors or anything similar unless you do not mind moss growing all over the tank eventually.
Else the only other way is to pull off those amount of moss you do not want.
But the problem, as highlighted already, is that the moss underneath that has already died out will cause the entire patch of moss to be dislodged and thus eventually the moss has to be re-tied again.
Anyone got a better alternative?
