    Hi! All,

This si my first thread in this forum. I came to know about this forum from a friend of mine who is based at Singapore.

I am based at Bangalore, India.

My question is which is the best suited Colour Temperature for a freshwater planted tank:-

    (1) CCT-6500K, also known as Cool Day Light
    (2) CCT-4000K, also known as Cool White
    (3) CCT-2700K, also known as Warm White

Currently I am having one each of these PLL lights for my 20G planted tank.

    Regards,

    Saugata

    Welcome to AQ!

I did not perceive significant difference between using 2700K FL and 6500K FL as many have claimed.

IMO, colour temperature might not be critical.

    Hi Saugata,

    Welcome to Aquatic Quotient!

As mentioned by Joe, I prefer tubes with a temperature between 6500K and 8000K. Much more natural. Dennerle use to have an English section on their site which explained the color temperature for tubes used in planted aquaria. Unfortunately, it's been taken down.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

I'd go for at least 6500K, 8000K looks great to me. 10,000K tubes are also in use by people.

So do you suggest that I remove the other two PLLs, the ones having a CCT of 4000 & 2700 & replace them with PLLs with CCT of 6500?

Well... normally I won't change anything that's working, but if you're looking for better colour to your eyes change the tubes.
