Don't seems to see many marine tanks shown here.
Is "Aquascaping" meant only for planted tanks?

    Hi Peter (I assume),

Not really. But in this case, it's for planted tank as it's in the that forum category.

However, we have a marine sub forum for all marine aquarium discussion. Some of the other marine forums are much more specalised than Aquatic Quotient is. We recognise that we can't be everything to everything so we pick an area where we felt represent the interest of the members here, which is natural style freshwater aquariums. If there is a critical mass, we can certainly expand the forum to foster more discussion and learnings for those interested.

Would you have something to show us?

    Cheers,

    p.s. Still using the D2H?
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

    pity.

I kind of like the scaping by that guy at oregonreef.com
It gives a very pleasing 3D "under the ocean" feeling.
I am gonna to get inspiration from him for my first marine setup.

The trick for his aquascape is to get a tank with depth. His is 90" which means its 7.5ft!

IMHO, if this is your 1st marine setup, dun be bother with aquascaping yet. Concentrate on getting experience in maintaining a reef tank. As they always say, in a marine tank, things go wrong very fast (nano tank is worst).

My recommendation, start with a 3ft tank if possible. Start with FOWLR for the 1st few months, during these period try to learn the robes on keeping soft corals and LPS. After which try to keep LPS for at least 6months. Den if u still have the interests, go for SPS. But I belive if ur passion is still there, u'll most likely have upgraded ur tank for SPS.

    Cheers

    Hi JC, well said.
    Currently my tank is 3x1.5(D)x2(H).
That's why now I am thinking of 4x2x2, still without chiller!
Basically a fish only tank with simple buttons & mushrooms, and...

Nope. Cause read that the effect of using a undergravel heater is debated.

Initially I was wondering why your planted tank uses the overflow system.
After reading to the last couple of pages, realised it was formerly a marine tank.

    Good job!

Isn't overflow system not exactly suitable for planted tank?
As it will intro too much oxygen into the water...
Was told to have even minmum water surface movement so as not to have too much oxygen exchange...

I'll say its not ideal but still possible. Co2 lost will definitely be higher but there are its advantages also. i.e. More water volume, hidden equipement, easy water change, more filter media, etc.... The main negative is that CO2 refill will be high but thinking that each refill is 15 buck, still manageable.

Hi ranma, u still need ppl to teach mah.
